It’s easy to assume, in a world of rapid change, that the differences between the generations are seismic – but what if that which unites us is greater than that which divides us? How can families nurture their differences, strive towards harmony and strengthen their legacy?

In this episode of Found in Conversation, we have the pleasure of meeting two remarkable guests: Dr. Eliza Filby, an academic, writer, and public speaker specializing in contemporary values and generational intelligence, and Honora Ducatillon, the Head of Family Advisory at Pictet Wealth Management. Joining us as the host is Hubertus Kuelps, the Head of Communications and Branding at the Pictet Group.

Dr Eliza Filby

Dr Eliza Filby is an academic, writer and public speaker specialising in contemporary values and generational intelligence. Using her specialist knowledge, she advises governments, companies and services on generational shift through the lens of politics, society and the labour market. She was educated at Durham and UCL and received her PhD in History from the University of Warwick in 2010. Between 2010– 2014, she lectured at King’s College London where she taught History of the 1980s to those born in the 1990s and latterly at Renmin University Beijing where she undertook the challenging task of teaching History of Capitalism in Communist China. Her current research focuses on intergenerational tensions now dominating politics and the workplace. She regularly appears in the media and has written for The Telegraph, The Spectator, The Guardian and reviewed for The Financial Times. She is a visiting lecturer at King’s College London, lives in London and is currently researching her second book.

Honora Ducatillon

Honora works with affluent multigenerational families and their advisors to address the complex challenge of preserving and growing their family wealth and legacy across generations. Her main areas of expertise are family governance (designing an organisation for communication and decision-making within the family), succession and next generation education. A strong believer in pluridisciplinary approaches, Honora draws on her knowledge in law, psychology, facilitation and design thinking, to engage families in a collective journey towards their shared future. Prior to joining Pictet, Honora was Head of Family Advisory at Edmond de Rothschild, where she was responsible for the offering of holistic family wealth advice and developing of educational programs dedicated to families. Honora started her career at leading law firms De Pfyffer & Associés and Tavernier Tschanz in Geneva, advising international private clients on estate planning, philanthropy, real estate law, art law, as well as the acquisition and sale of collectibles and luxury assets. Honora is a lawyer by training and has been admitted to the Bar of Geneva. She is a certificate holder (ACFBA, ACFWA) from the Family Firm Institute (FFI).

Hubertus Kuelps

Hubertus Kuelps is Pictet’s Global Head of Communications and Branding. Before joining Pictet in 2020, Hubertus was Group Head Communications & Branding at UBS for seven years. In 2017 he took on the additional role of Head of UBS in Society, the firm’s unit coordinating all activities related to sustainability. Prior to that, Hubertus spent 11 years with Allianz Group, where he worked in several operational and communications roles in Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia and the US.
