Gavin Sharpe appointed new President of PAM Japan

| Tokyo, 8 June 2009 - Leading asset manager, Pictet Asset Management (“PAM”), the institutional division of the Swiss private bank Pictet & Cie, announces the appointment of Gavin Sharpe as President of Pictet Asset Management (Japan) Ltd. Yoshiharu Okazaki, after thirteen years leading Pictet in Japan, will become Non-Executive Chairman. These changes are effective as of July 1, 2009. |
Gavin Sharpe brings over 20 years of experience at Pictet to the Japanese operation. Most recently he was the Chief Financial Officer of Pictet Asset Management and is a director of Pictet Asset Management Ltd., Pictet (London) Limited, Pictet Asset Management S.A. and a Pictet Asset Management, Executive Board Member. Upon graduation from the University of Greenwich, London, with a B.A. in Business Studies, Sharpe began his career in the Treasury Department of United Biscuits plc in 1981 during which period he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He moved to Galbraiths Ltd (a subsidiary of Samuel Montagu) as Financial Controller in 1985, before joining Pictet in 1987.Ivan Pictet, Senior Partner of Pictet & Cie, said, “Yoshiharu Okazaki joined Pictet in 1996 and has presided over an long period of success for Pictet in Japan, building what has become the largest foreign asset management business in that country.
